Dining room · Darjeeling home cooking — Nepali, Bengali & Anglo-Indian
The Family Table
One long table in the Main Bungalow's dining room, where guests and hosts eat together. No menu card: the kitchen cooks the day's meal from the estate garden, the village market and the season.

The room
Meals at Glenmist are taken together, at a teak table that seats sixteen under the dining room's old brass lamps. Breakfast is unhurried, with eggs as you like them, fresh bread, the estate's marmalades and, on Sundays, Bengali luchi and aloor dom. Lunch is light and often Nepali: dal, greens from the garden, achar and momos steamed to order. Dinner is the gathering of the day, three or four courses by candlelight that move between Nepali, Bengali and Anglo-Indian cooking. Tell us what you love and what you cannot eat; vegetarian, vegan and Jain meals are cooked with the same care.
