The room
Every afternoon at four the tea comes out onto the verandah: a pot of the current flush from our own factory, a second estate tea to compare it with, sandwiches, a cake from the kitchen and, in winter, hot pakoras. As the light goes, the bar opens for sundowners, the fire is lit in the drawing room behind you, and on a clear evening the snows turn pink across the valley.
