The room
The Orchid Family Suite is two bedrooms joined by a sitting room, at the far end of the Rungeet Bungalow beside the old orchid house, where the estate's collection of cymbidiums flowers through the spring. It sleeps four comfortably, with a cot or extra bed on request.
The main bedroom has a king bed and long windows onto the garden; the second, panelled in teak, has two single beds that children love. Between them the sitting room has a fireplace, board games and a shelf of the estate's old photograph albums.
There is one large bathroom with a bath beneath the window and a separate shower, and toiletries made for us in Kalimpong. Children under 6 stay free; we will make up early suppers and pack a picnic for the day trips.
